When we moved into our new house last year, we engaged this kitchen cabinet contractor. We got his number from our old neighbour, we saw her kitchen cabinet was really nice when she had her house warming. Everything turned out fine, the installation was smooth, the guy was responsible, the design is what we discussed and the price is ok.
Until 6 mths after we moved in, one of the kitchen cabinet's door fell off becoz of the leaking from the sink. Underneath the sink filled with "mushroom" and mold. Called this guy again, unfortunetely, the answer he gave us was disappointing after inspecting for us. He said it's our fault as "the material used is not suitable for water contact".... i said what u mean by "water contact "? I thought if i would have install a sink, of course i will use it and of course it will have water contact right???
My house is not a show house, of course if i install a sink, i will need to use it right ? and furthermore, our usage of sink is minimal , for washing of water bottles & normal cups.. becoz i dun even cook during weekdays..
He later come out with a quotation charging me RM1,500 for repairing my kitchen with "different & suitable" material. I was furious becoz he should have inform me abt what type of material is suitable for water contact when we first engaged him to install the kitchen cabinet but then why he din bother to tell me when we @ the discussion stage of installing the kitchen cabinet ??
Me and hubby were furious and not satisfy with the reason he gave us for the falling/decayed doors and leaking kitchen : This is his reason:-
a) Your maid is too rough when using the sink..
b) material used to install the kitchen cabinet is not suitable for usage of water.. that's why decay
There he goes insisting with this "reason" and that we should pay RM1,500.
Not willing to pay, we sued him to the Tribunal court and after yesterday's hearing, we won the case, we will get to claimed from him Rm1,500. But Still, i'm not happy becoz we dunno RM1,500 enough for us to repair the defects ,secondly, we have to use other material that is "suitable" now and it might look weird on our kitchen cabinet later, meaning it will have 2 different material/colors.. sigh ~~
Anyway... just let u guys know about his name & his company.please DUN LOOK FOR HIM.

The full name of the co. is ABS Star Cabinet Trading ya? Ok, will black list the co.
I agreed with you, the contractor shuld inform you earlier that the right material to be used.
Not bad ya...you even sued the case to the tribunal court. Thats the right way to go...
